Fast Track Cancer Care Research & Navigation Session

Same-day access to CTOAM's cancer care research and navigation team. Whether your questions involve published research on biomarkers, categories of molecular testing, public clinical-trial listings, supplements, nutrition, or simply understanding what to ask next — bring your questions and we'll help you get organized and prepared for the conversations with your own physicians.

  • 45-minute virtual session — 15 minutes of introductions, then 30 minutes of focused research and navigation conversation with CTOAM's cancer care research & navigation team
  • Recording & written transcript — revisit the conversation, or share it with family and your own physicians
  • Educational resources — general, published materials and information relevant to your questions
  • Bring your questions — no records review required beforehand

Same-day appointments are often available. Many clients don't want to wait weeks before getting their questions organized. When it comes to cancer, time matters.

The goal is not to replace your physician — it's to help you understand the published research and organize the important questions before you meet with your own care team, so you can be a more informed participant in your care. This session is for educational, informational, and research purposes only. It is not a medical consultation, not a second opinion, and not medical advice.

Alexander Rolland — CTOAM Founder, Scientific Advisor, and cancer care researcher

Why clients choose to speak with Alexander Rolland

For more than 15 years, Alexander Rolland has researched precision cancer medicine, molecular profiling, biomarkers, genomics, transcriptomics, cancer biology, and personalized cancer research.

Unlike many who work exclusively in research review or literature analysis, Alex's experience includes the development and validation of molecular testing technologies. His work has contributed to research programs presented through accepted poster presentations at major international scientific meetings, including ASCO and ESMO.

This combination of laboratory experience, molecular test development, biomarker research, and client-facing navigation work gives a unique perspective on the rapidly evolving field of precision cancer medicine — and helps clients identify the questions that may be worth asking their own physicians next.

Alex's perspective is also informed by personal experience with a cancer diagnosis. Having faced many of the same questions and decisions, he understands that behind every report, biomarker, and research paper is a person trying to make the best decisions possible with the information available.

Maryem Khan

Clinical Integration Specialist

Holds a medical degree earned outside Canada and brings that background to her navigation and coordination work. She is not practising medicine at CTOAM — her role is to help clients and families get organized, understand published information, and feel prepared for their next steps.

Our role is not to diagnose, prescribe, interpret your results, or replace your healthcare team — it's to help you better understand the published science and research, get organized, and prepare the questions that may be relevant to discuss with your own physicians.

What our clients say

Frequently asked questions

Is this a medical consultation or second opinion?
No. It is a research and navigation conversation with members of our cancer care research & navigation team — non-physicians — to help you better understand published research on biomarkers, categories of molecular testing, public clinical-trial listings, and the questions that may be worth raising with your own physicians. It is not a medical consultation, not a second opinion, and not medical advice. For a review delivered directly by a registered medical Oncologist, see our Precision Second Opinion below.
Will you tell me what treatment I should choose?
No — treatment decisions are always made between you and your own physicians. We can point you to published research, categories of testing, biomarkers, and clinical-trial listings that may be relevant, and help you prepare the questions worth discussing with your healthcare team.
Can you help me learn about molecular testing?
Yes — at a general, educational level. Many clients book to better understand the categories of molecular testing technologies, biomarkers, genomic and transcriptomic testing, and liquid biopsy described in the published research, and the questions worth raising with their own physicians. We do not order, interpret, or recommend specific tests — a licensed physician does that.
Do I need any scientific background to benefit?
No. Many clients are completely new to these concepts. We explain complex topics in a practical, understandable way and meet you wherever you are.
Why book if I already have an oncologist?
The session complements — it does not replace — your care. Clients book for extra time to learn about biomarkers, categories of testing, emerging research, clinical-trial listings, and supportive-care topics, and to prepare questions they want to bring back to their own physicians.
Do I need to send records beforehand?
No. The Fast Track Session is designed for rapid access without a records review beforehand.
How quickly can I book, and does my cancer type or stage matter?
Same-day appointments are often available, and clients use this service across a wide range of cancer types, stages, and situations.

Need more than a Fast Track Session?

For more complex situations or significant decisions, our Precision Second Opinion adds case preparation, medical-record organization, and a private review delivered directly by a registered medical Oncologist (about one week from intake).
