Chemotherapy Reduces Overall Survival in Children with Low-Grade Glioma

In this retrospective review of children with inoperable intracranial low-grade glioma, it was found that children treated with chemotherapy prior to radiation therapy had a lower 10yr overall survival rate of 85%, compared to 92% for children who were treated with radiation therapy alone. I like this study because it underscores the importance of patient stratification when designing treatment protocols.
