Androgen-Deprivation Therapy Before And During Radiotherapy Improves Overall Survival In Prostate Cancer

Short-term androgen-deprivation therapy (ADT) before and during radiotherapy improves cancer control and overall survival in patients with early, localized prostate adenocarcinoma. In this study, patients that received radiotherapy plus short-term ADT had an overall 10-year survival rate of 62% compared with 57% for patients receiving radiotherapy alone. I like this study because not only did it decrease the 10-year disease-specific death rate (from 8% to 4%), the extra ADT treatment had minimal side effects on the patients.
