Lauren was a 54 year-old patient with low-grade serous ovarian cancer. After having a Bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy (surgical removal of the ovaries and fallopian tubes), she was told, based on CT scan results, that she was cancer free and would require no further treatment.
Lauren came to us for a second opinion and to have us create a specialized Nutraceutical diet for prevention of cancer recurrence.
In addition to providing her with the Nutraceutical diet, and based on our research of Lauren’s type of cancer, we urged her to have her uterus and omenturn (large fold of visceral peritoneum that hangs down from the stomach) removed.
To her credit, Lauren spoke with her doctor immediately and arranged for the procedure as soon as possible. During the course of the operation, the same low-grade cancer was found in the cervix, uterus, omentum and the stomach girdle piece and was subsequently removed.
Had Lauren just accepted the clean bill of health given to her by her Oncologist this disease would have progressed untreated and resulted in extensive metastasis.
We are grateful that Lauren came to us but we know that Lauren is even more grateful to have the confidence that she is cancer free and that she did everything she could to giver herself the best chance for a long and healthy life.
